Johns Hopkins University Athletics
Here at Johns Hopkins, varsity athletics play a major role in school spirit. Varsity sports contribute to the energy of our dynamic campus community. Students cheer on their fellow Blue Jays in "The Nest", the official student section at home athletic events at Homewood Field and Goldfarb Gymnasium. Our men's lacrosse team has won 44 national championships and many of our other teams annually contend for conference, regional and national titles. In fact, our women's cross country team won its third straight NCAA Championship in 2014!
Athletes go through the same application process as all other applicants. All admissions decisions are issued by official written notification from the Office of Undergraduate Admissions only. Coaches and others affiliated with Johns Hopkins Athletics are not authorized to offer admission, and they cannot guarantee or ensure admissions for any student, or ‘predict’ any particular student’s likelihood of being admitted.
Once on campus, student-athletes are committed both on the field and in the classroom—contributing in many ways beyond their commitment to athletics. As leaders of student groups and scholars who are eager to dig deeper into the topics that matter to them, they’re active members of our community.
If you’re considering varsity sport at a school like Hopkins, it’s important to prepare for excellence both inside and outside the classroom. Focus on building a strong academic profile and learning to balance the demands of competitive athletics with your studies.
